From April through November, as the Community Artist in the Parks, I will be out painting in Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Hovenweep National Monument, and Natural Bridges National Monument.
Since April 2, I have had the opportunity to paint in Arches five times. As you can see from the photo above, taken on the Skyline Arch trail on April 10, the weather has gone from winter to spring and back to winter. I'm finding it a very rewarding challenge to go out painting on a schedule, no matter the weather. There have already been a couple times when the weather has not cooperated, and it's been cold and/or windy. The upside is that I'm there for some pretty incredible light that I otherwise might have missed, and I've met some nice people as I've been painting.

On Saturday, April 20th from 4:30 - 8:00 pm, I'll be up at the Grand View Point Overlook in the Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands National Park. I hope to see some of you there! Bring your paints, bring your cameras, or just come experience a beautiful spot.
